Student Preferences Impact Outcome of Flipped Classroom in Dental Education: Students Favoring Flipped Classroom Benefited More

Many reports in dental education showed that student learning improved with the flipped classroom method. However, there are few describe how different subsets of students may benefit from classroom. In this study, we investigated students’ preference for impacted their outcome. We used a module on physiology autonomic nervous system taught to year one Doctor Dental Surgery test hypothesis who favored performed better assessment quizzes. The was composed pre-class activity, out-of-class assignment, in-class discussion, and two Quiz 1 given after self-studied foundational content online through 2 at end module. Students filled out survey report experiences preferences. Fewer scored below 75% than 1. Students’ self-evaluated understanding significantly finishing assignment discussion compared activity alone. Moreover, preferred learn higher 2. overall grades course more low performers. Our results indicated favoring method spent time understood better, assessments prefer traditional lectures.
